Scarecrow Festival
Scarecrow Festival is one of the most unusual Festivals held in the country. There are frequently up to 100 or more handmade Scarecrows which fall into different categories.
Some of the categories are...
Childrens
Business
Whimsical
Mechanical
Traditional
When you're browsing the Scarecrows, if you see one you love, you'll be encouraged to vote for it. Cash prizes are awarded to the winners but once you visit the Festival, you will realize that it's not about the money. These artists are competing with amazing creativity!
The park where the Scarecrows are displayed also has food available. An annual favorite is the Kettle Corn which is popped in huge Iron Pots over an Open Fire right in the park. Scrumptous!
There are also games like bean bag tosses and of course aromatic deserts like homemade carmel apples.
If you are looking for Old Fashioned Autumn Fun and want to attend a unique festival, come to St. Charles, IL October 5-7, 2007.
St. Charles is located about an hour west of Chicago. While you are visiting the area, be sure to check out
